I thought i’d share with you something i’ve been doing for a little while now… HILL RUNNING! I find it extremely hard to run at a steady pace and have always preferred interval training. I know interval training has its benefits but personally i’m enjoying pushing myself. In the past I have tried running on the treadmill at an incline but I would find my lungs were ready to collapse after 30 seconds.
I’ve now learned that it’s not a race! The one major change i’ve made is bringing the speed right down. I run at an almost easy pace, fast enough that i’m jogging briskly but i’m still able to just about sing to myself. I’ve got quite short legs to go with my short body so for me that’s between 6 and 7 and I usually do about a 4-6% incline for anything between 20-30 minutes.
I must say.. I do love it – I love how much it challenges me and I love all the benefits! My calves, quads, hamstrings and glutes are feeling firmer, I feel as though i’m increasing my general fitness level and my upper body feels stronger too.
I totally recommend it for a full body workout!
