It’s that dreaded time again… washing my hair! Now don’t get me wrong, I love clean hair but the process is so time consuming, I dread it as it grows closer and closer. My hair doesn’t get greasy very quickly, I actually have quite dry hair but after about a week and a half….it all changes! So I tend to wash my hair every other week, alternating shampoos and conditioners each time. I then use a conditioner and wash it out, allow my hair to air dry until it’s just damp, apply a leave in conditioner and a heat protector; then I blow dry.
From Left to Right:
Organic Root Stimulator: Creamy Aloe Shampoo
This shampoo is considered a clarifying shampoo which means it’s designed to remove any build up on the hair or in the scalp. So if my hair is feeling limp, greasy, dull or weighed down – this is the stuff! It lathers really nicely, and leaves my hair feeling completely clean without a doubt. I’ve been using this for well over a year and I really have no complaints.
Cream of Nature: Argan Oil from Morocco (Sulfate Free) Moisture & Shine Shampoo
I like this shampoo, mainly because it’s sulfate free which means it’s gentle on my hair in comparison to most shampoos which contain harsh sulfates. Admittedly, my hair doesn’t feel as clean as when I use the clarifying shampoo but my scalp always looks very clean. I find when I use this shampoo, my hair feels like it’s almost coated in moisture and to be quite honest – I love Argan Oil so, overall, I love this shampoo. It especially helps when i’m in dire need of a relaxer, with the two textures!
Keracare: Anti-dandruff Moisturising Conditioner
If i’ve learned anything on my hair journey, it’s that you can be recommended a product for your hair but if it’s not for you – you can’t force it! This, however, is my bestest friend! It may put a little dent in my piggy bank but if I could only choose one hair conditioner for the rest of my life, this would be it. I struggle with dry hair, itchy scalp, and dandruff to the extreme but this stuff has conquered everything! This is one of the best moisturising conditioners i’ve ever used and I love the SLIP on my hair once i’ve used it. I usually use a generous amount and cover with a plastic cap and my Heat Wrap Cap for about 15 minutes. It has this lovely tingly feeling and then I wash it out with cool (almost cold) water which helps retain the soft and detangled feeling my hair has afterwards. I find that it works best for me with the ORS shampoo.
IC: Heat Protector Straightening Spray
I used to straighten my hair every two weeks without fail but straighteners haven’t touched my hair since May 2013; and before then it was April 2012. This product, however, was my protection from all that heat and if i’m quite honest – has become a habit. I spray a little bit on after my leave in conditioner and it seems to protect my hair from my blowdryer. I don’t remember the last time I had those horrible dry ends and I believe this pink stuff really helps – smells good too!
Organic Root Stimulator: Hair Mayonnaise
If your hair is relaxed… and you don’t use this conditioner already… I don’t know what you’re doing with your life. This is definitely one of the best Protein treatment conditioners out there and i’m not ashamed to say it! I also use this with a plastic cap and my Heat Wrap Cap on top for about 15 minutes – sometimes longer – and it leaves my hair feeling healthy; it always has! A little bit of this definitely goes a long way… I find it works best for my hair with the Creme of Nature Shampoo.
Cantu: Shea Butter Leave in Conditioning Repair Cream
I use this for many things, overnight roller sets… overnight moisture and seal… moisturiser before braiding my hair…. leave in conditioner on wash day…. the list is endless! This stuff is so creamy (nothing beats the creaminess of Keracare) and I find it rescues my hair on those bad hair days and makes it more manageable. After allowing my hair to air dry until its only slightly damp, I put a small but also generous amount in my hair and make sure it goes right on my scalp too. It smells so so so good and for someone who has sheds hair like a dog; this has really changed the status of my hair.
What do you use???
