A quick post, but necessary nonetheless.
So for those that have me on Snapchat (@meechmills), you will have seen me taking off a specific sweatband after a workout. You will have also seen videos of my trainers on either a rowing machine or stepper as well as maybe my gloves and earphones. I wanted to do a quick round up on what I wear in the gym, why and where they’re all from.
So, first are my trainers. I own 2 pairs. In the gym, I do strength training which usually consists of 2 days focused on my upper body and 2 days on my lower body. When I train my lower body I wear these Nike Metcon 2’s. I’m flat-footed so they provide enough support so my feet do not slide and they are flat enough so that I am engaging the right muscles when squatting and not rolling forward on to my toes. I also try to make it a practise that when I strength train my lower body, my cardio is centred around my upper body i.e rowing as these trainers are built primarily for lifting.
I got these from Nike, however, I think there are Metcon 3’s now?!
When I train upper body, I wear these Nike Air Zoom Structure 20’s. Originally, I bought these trainers for walking to and from work; they’ve served their purpose and then some! Again, being flat-footed, this trainer provides enough support for my arches and prevent my feet from sliding around. They’re also super lightweight for running as my cardio is usually centred around my lower body on these days i.e. running, HIIT training.
Again, these are from Nike, and while writing this post I believe there are lots of these on sale… one can only assume Structure 21’s soon?
Gloves. Nothing special – just a decent quality pair of lifting gloves. Calluses are not cute honey! No matter how much you moisturise. I remember once leaving these at home for a lifting session – safe to say it’s never happened again! I don’t even take these out of my gym bag, they live in there; a lifting session will be the hardest thing if I didn’t have these.
I have had these for ages now so I can’t recall where I purchased them but Sports Direct have a good range for decent prices.
Last but not least, I get so many questions about my slimmer belt. I regularly post it on my Snapchat and sometimes on my Instagram after a gym session. Can I just put it out there that this is not a quick fix!? This slimmer belt is made of neoprene on the inside so during a workout, it raises my core temperature and increases the amount I sweat. Of course, this is all water weight so once I drink water I will return to my normal weight. It does, however, encourage me to drink much more during my workout and throughout the day as I am literally dripping wet after a workout. I do feel instantly lighter and less bloated after a workout from wearing this – I also know that with consistent exercise and a good diet; it can contribute to overall weight loss.
I purchased this belt from Amazon and it’s my 3rd one in 5 years so i’d say they last quite long and are definitely worth the money!
What’s in your gym bag?
